Group Surf Lesson
Each group surf lesson with Surf Life Tenerife has a maximum ratio of 1 instructor per 6 students. It is the best way to try our beautiful sport and keep on improving while also meeting new people and sharing good vibes! With beginners, our instructors never get into the water with a board, but always wearing flippers on their feet, in order to help our students to get to the line up – where we start paddling – and push them into the waves.
Kids can join group surf lessons starting from 14 years old.
We also organise group surf lessons for intermediate surfers!

Private Family Surf Lesson
It is the best experience to share with your kids! During the private family surf lesson one of our instructors will be fully available to ensure the fun and safety of kids and parents! The private family surf lesson starts from 3 participants up to a maximum of 5. Starting from 6 people, we will apply the same quote of a group lesson. Depending on the children’s age, an assistant will get into the water to help out during the lesson!
The minimum age for kids to join the private family surf lesson is 7 years old. Younger kids can join the lesson but they will need a private instructor just for them!
Depending on the number of kids joining the lesson and on the surfing forecasts for the day, we will suggest if an additional instructor is needed to ensure the safety of the family.

Private Surf Lesson for Kids
Surf is the best sport to learn when you are a kid! Thanks to their great balance skills, kids usually manage to stand up on the board very fast.
In order to guarantee your kid’s safety, the surf instructor will always be behind the board to stabilise it and take control of it, if necessary. This also helps your kid to move backward and forward on the board and start to make the first steps for their future surfing.

Premium Surf Coaching
The Premium Surf Coaching package with Surf Life Tenerife is aimed at intermediate and advanced surfers. The objective is to offer a private and customised program which allows to improve the technique and knowledge of the world of surfing.
The program includes a private instructor, video recording of the surf lessons, theory sessions and video analysis of the practice in the water, complemented with surf skate sessions, the best combination for professional training in and out of water aimed at improving the participants’ performance!

What it’s like to surf with Surf Life Tenerife
Every day we set the time of our surf lessons depending on when we can get the best conditions, considering the surfing forecasts and above all, the tide level. If your accommodation is located in the zone of Costa Adeje – specifically in the area from Callao Salvaje to Los Cristianos – we will come and pick you up with our van and take you to our surf school in Playa de Las Américas located 100 meters walking from the beach where we usually surf!
We get changed in the school, where we leave all our valuables in complete safety. We take the equipment and walk to the beach where we will start our lesson with a warm up session. During the technique session at the beach we will give you specific instructions depending on your level, in order to help you improve your posture on the board, the way you stand up and, hopefully, to do turns or advanced maneuvers.
In the water you will be able to practise under the instructions of our team of surf teachers, with over 10 years of experience of surfing and teaching. For beginners, we will stay in the first line of white water, where waves are gentle and easy to catch. For the most experienced, we will go to the line up where we will teach you how to catch green waves – before they break – get the direction and turn on the waves.
After the session in the water, we will be back to the school where you can have a shower and get changed before we take you back to your accommodation.
Even though the surf lesson lasts 2 hours, consider that for the whole experience with us you will need at least 4 hours, from the moment we pick you up until we take you back home!
Transfer service
If you are staying in the area of Costa Adeje, spefically between Callao Salvaje and Los Cristianos, you can book our transfer service. We will pick you up at your accommodation with our 9-seat surf van, take you to our surf school in Las Américas and take you back after the lesson.
While booking, select the ADD-ON “Transfer service from Costa Adeje“, fill in your accommodation details and we’ll organize everything for you!

FAQ
WHAT IS THE MEETING POINT/TIME FOR THE SURF LESSONS?
The meeting point for our surf lessons is our surf school in Playa de Las Américas. We are located in shop 82 on the underground level of Shopping Centre Parque Santiago 3. If you have booked our transfer service, we will send you the exact pick-up time for your lesson the day before the activity.
HOW LONG ARE THE LESSONS?
Every lesson with us lasts 2 hours starting from the moment you are on the beach., including approximately 30 minutes of warm-up & theory and 90 minutes in the water. Considering the additional changing times at the surf school before and after the lesson. you are done in 3 hours maximum. If you have booked a transfer, consider you are generally back to your accommodation after 4 hours (depending on traffic).
AT WHICH SPOT ARE WE GOING TO SURF?
Our homespot is right next to the spot called La Fitenia, located just a couple of minutes away from our school. This spot is usually the least crowded one in the area. All spots in Las Américas are rocky and very few are school-friendly (respect the locals!). We provide full-length wetsuits and surf shoes to ensure maximum protection and safety.
AT WHAT TIME ARE THE LESSONS PLANNED?
The times of our surf lessons change every day depending on the tides. We set them at the best surfable times of the day, which might be morning, middle-day or afternoon. In our homespot La Fitenia, these are typically on a mid-tide. The times of our lessons are set in advance and available online for you to check and book. If you can’t find your preferred timeslot, contact us and we will suggest any possible alternatives!
CAN KIDS JOIN THE SURF LESSONS?
Starting from 14 years old, your kids can join our group surf lessons. Kids under 14 can join either private 1 to 1 courses, private double or family lessons. For private double lessons, if both kids are under the age of 9, they will require 1 instructor each. For private family lessons, the number of instructors will be defined depending on the number of kids joining the lesson and on the surfing forecast for the day. In any case, below the age of 7, 1 instructor per kid is required to ensure the safety of the experience.
To book one of these special combinations we recommend you get in touch with us before making the booking, as you might not find direct availability online for these.
I AM AN INTERMEDIATE SURFER. ARE GROUP LESSONS SUITABLE FOR MY LEVEL?
Yes, they are! In our group lessons, we assign a maximum of 6 students per instructor, split according to their surf experience. This ensures quality classes, with different groups with different levels. When booking your surf lessons online, you will be asked to enter your surf level – we will take it into account when forming the groups! If you want to work on some specific aspects of your surfing and are still doubting, send us an inquiry!
I AM A BEGINNER SURFER. ARE GROUP LESSONS SUITABLE FOR MY LEVEL?
Yes, they are! All the participants of the group lessons are split according to their surf level, meaning that you will be surfing along with other beginners like you. Group lessons can be a fun and nice way to learn! However, if you can’t swim or feel any discomfort in the water, a private lesson is the best choice!
IS THE SURF EQUIPMENT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE? CAN I KEEP THE EQUIPMENT WITH ME AFTER THE SURF LESSON?
The surf equipment is included in the price of the lessons but comes at an extra rate if booked separately. Typically, before and after the surf lessons, the tide is not ideal for surfing, which is why we run our rental service mainly during the times of our lessons. Rentals are subject to the conditions – with high waves and strong swells, they are not permitted. Get in touch with us to learn more!
